Taking a screenshot with the Print Screen key
Print Screen is a button for instantly capturing your screen. The button name may be abbreviated, e.g. Prt Scr. Press it once to capture the whole screen, then just hit Ctrl+V on our site. You can also press Alt + Print Screen to capture only the active window.
How to take a screenshot on Mac
Mac has no Print Screen key — screenshots are taken with keyboard shortcuts:
- Cmd + Shift + 3 — captures the entire screen (saved as a file to the desktop).
- Cmd + Shift + 4 — the cursor turns into crosshairs, drag to select an area — captures only that area.
- Cmd + Shift + 4, then Space — the cursor turns into a camera, click a window — captures only that window.
- Cmd + Shift + 5 — opens a panel with all capture modes, plus screen recording and a timer.
Add Control (⌃) to any of the shortcuts above (e.g. Cmd + Ctrl + Shift + 4) to copy the screenshot straight to the clipboard instead of saving a file. Then just paste it on this page with Cmd + V.
How to upload a screenshot from a phone
Take a screenshot on your phone as usual, then tap “Choose a screenshot or photo” on the homepage and select the image from Photos or Files. After upload, you will get a link that you can open, edit, and share.
Use prtsc.cx.ua for quick and simple image editing
After pasting an image, use our editor to crop it with the Crop Tool. Draw notes with the Pen Tool, highlight or edit with the Rectangle Tool, and add text with the Text Tool. Save your changes when you're done and share the result!
